being taken advantage of by the sighted ones

Ok, here's my story. A friend of mine and I ordered pizza today and ordered a mediam peperoni cheese and mushroom one. So, we get the pizza and go to eat it, there were only four pieces in the box. We totally think the guy ate our pizza. We didn't report it or anything but oh my god... Was he that hungry??

What does that have to do with being blind? If the pizza was perfectly round it means, most likely that it was only supposed to be 4 pieces (although it sounds strange) and if you do not go and complain about it with the place you ordered from, why do you go online and complain about it.
Come on, you got to stand up for your rights, go call them now. It's not the blind who are taken advantage of so much as those who let themselves be taken advantage of all the time.

You still should report that though if it isn't to late to do so. I would've been pissed if there were just 4 slices of pizza in that there box. When I pay full price for something, I want the whole shabang.

Let's see I got a story about sighted people taking advantage of me. You know how you go to the grocery store and buy all this food, sodas, or whatever, and so when go to wait in line. A sighted person will come up and cut in front of you. That irritates me to no end, I just can't stand people who'd take advantage of a person with a disability.

I just choose not to say anything because I don't make scenes out in public.

That other friend was me and yes I'm going to say something. I think the guy was eating it on the way because when we got into the box it was all like someone was in it. So beth don't worry I am going to write them. Maybe we'll get a free pizza out of it *smile*

Yeah, seriously guys, call them, immediately, you might still get something now but it'd be hard to proof at this point that the pizza really was half eaten by the time you got it. And if you know you're being mistreated you have to speak up, publi or not, I never let anyone cheat me out of something. If I discover it I am not quitting till those wrongs have been corrected. If you let people walk all over you they will continue to do so.

Am I the only one who never gets abused or miss treated because I'm blind? At least in my experience people will respect you more if you walk around with a slight chip on your shoulder and give you the respect your due. I"m not saying be a total prick but if your pissed let someone know it.

i'd have to agree with Jared in that sense.
Walk around with your head held high, and a bit of a chip, and you tend to be respected more often.

Beth, I too would have been on the phone the minute you discovered the missing pizza!

I'm not so sure about the chip on the shoulder routine, but we should not let people take advantage of us; I've been very fortunate in that throughout my life.

BTW, If I have a choice of six or eight slices of pizza, I'll always choose six; I couldn't eat eight...LOL

I wouldn't have called--simply because I would have assumed that I made a mistake counting the pieces. Nothing's impossible, I suppose, but I have a really, really hard time believing that a pizza place delivered an incomplete pizza.

I find it hard to believe that people will respect you more if you have a chip, I think it is better to tell somebody if you are angry about something. But I must say I tend to keep things to myself at times.
